It was an awesome summer but it has ended and autumn is evident with the pale yellow sunlight in the morning and evening. The temperatures have cooled to forties at night and sixties in the day with a cool, brisk breeze and scurry of leaves falling from the trees with their yellow, orange, and golden hues.
The days are shorter and my garden has stopped growing. The fall harvest is here with roadside pumpkins, squash, corn, potatoes and apples for sale.
Pumpkins and mums are part of my Autumn decorating. I am going to get my bale of hay tomorrow to put in the garden with my scarecrow and add my pumpkins and mums. Autumn begins September 23rd.
The deer have feasted on my tomatoes, peppers and squash. Thank goodness they don't like cucumbers and leeks. They like the apple tree in the front yard too.
Apple harvest for my table. It is amazing the abundance of apple trees on the island calling out to be picked. I could not resist stopping on County Road today to pick a golden yellow apple and the taste was sweet and juicy, fresh from the tree.
I have come full circle, living my dream, on an island by the ocean. Every day is filled with joy and awe with the beauty of sea and sky and I am surrounded with God's presence everywhere I look. I am blessed and so very thankful.
