Sitting on a Rock by the Bay

Tide is out...

the bay down the hill below our house.

I walk along the path below the houses to the dock for fresh seafood.

The blue building is Quoddy Bay Lobster...best seafood in town.
The island across the bay is Campobello Island.

My Daily Walk by the Ocean.

Sunday afternoon September 26, 2010.

My daily walk brings me to this beach.

The view below from the beach across the Fundy Bay is Campobello Island.

The bridge at the end of the island is in Lubec...to the right is Lubeck and to the left is Campobello Island.

There are apple trees laden with fruit by the shoreline.

Empty lobster traps on the beach.

My walk back home...up the hill from the beach, looking back toward Lubec.

Thursday Morning - September 23, 2010

I was standing on the deck at 7:30am drinking my morning coffee and heard a rustling in the trees and remembered it was time for my morning visitors. I slowly backed up, turned and went inside to get my digital camera...this is what I saw when I returned...sweet baby deer....BUT...mom and dad came out too. They now have a morning feast of apples since the garden is finished for the season.

Apples, Pears and Blackberries

The week of September 20, 2010.

I picked apples, pears and blackberries from our yard. I made an apple crisp to take to dinner at a friends house, poached pears with cottage cheese for lunch and blackberries topped with vanilla yogurt for breakfast.

Autumn Season

It was an awesome summer but it has ended and autumn is evident with the pale yellow sunlight in the morning and evening. The temperatures have cooled to forties at night and sixties in the day with a cool, brisk breeze and scurry of leaves falling from the trees with their yellow, orange, and golden hues.

The days are shorter and my garden has stopped growing. The fall harvest is here with roadside pumpkins, squash, corn, potatoes and apples for sale.

Pumpkins and mums are part of my Autumn decorating. I am going to get my bale of hay tomorrow to put in the garden with my scarecrow and add my pumpkins and mums. Autumn begins September 23rd.

The deer have feasted on my tomatoes, peppers and squash. Thank goodness they don't like cucumbers and leeks.

They like the apple tree in the front yard too.

Apple harvest for my table.

It is amazing the abundance of apple trees on the island calling out to be picked. I could not resist stopping on County Road today to pick a golden yellow apple and the taste was sweet and juicy, fresh from the tree.

I have come full circle, living my dream, on an island by the ocean. Every day is filled with joy and awe with the beauty of sea and sky and I am surrounded with God's presence everywhere I look. I am blessed and so very thankful.
