Summer 2009 at Bayview Cottage

Summer 2009 was spent adding a few new touches to the cottage; spending time with friends:gardening; enjoying the view.

Welcome to our cottage and if ye be wearin muddy shoes, I'd be pleased if ye would leave them on the mat.

In the kitchen, I added a work table and a coffee set in Scottish plaid.

My beautiful tray that was a yard sale find.

Larger dining table so we have more room for our friends to join us for a meal.

Blue stool for the goose to sit on.

Fruit bowl from Mom.

Wicker chair, comforter and shams to the master bedroom.

Beautiful quilt and shams in the guest bedroom from my mother.

A writing desk from Sister Sallie.

New towels and bath mat added to the bathroom.

A wicker chair and table to sitting area.

A view of deck, back yard and the ocean from either blue chair.

Added flowers to existing iris.

Patio garden; herbs of basil, thyme, rosemary, dill, sage and savory, parsley & red lead lettuce.

A place to sit and watch the flowers grow.

Summer 2009

Summer 2009 was spent adding a few new touches to the decor, spending time with friends, esp. with Robin at Market Day in Calais helping with her produce, talking to Paula & Steve from Done Roving Farm; having lunch with friends; meeting and making new friends; gardening; enjoying the view.

The month of June was wet, cool, and foggy most days; so cool on rainy, foggy days the gas heater would come on to warm the cottage. I bundled in layers of clothes, sock and jeans; read and enjoyed pots of tea.

July brought warmer weather but still rainy and cooler than normal, although it afforded me plenty of nights sleeping with the windows open and listening to the fog horn. It was a rainy July 4th, although the sun came out long enough to enjoy the parade, but then the rain settled in again and the fireworks downtown were canceled.

August brought sunny days and warmer temperatures to enjoy our last days before we returned to Florida. After we left, friends had to endure hot temps of 90 degree days of abnormally warm temperatures esp. for Eastport.
